Amorina Recitals

I want to show some pictures of Swedish artists; again I concentrate mostly on pianists ...

Sweden's grand old lady of the piano, professor Greta Erikson, played the great Brahms Piano Quintet
with the Lysell Quartet at Amorina Recitals in 1993. The piece was new to her and I convinced her to learn it.
But it was not a difficult task, since it’s a work she always wanted to play.
That was all there was to it – no one had asked her before.

Martin Fröst is now a well established clarinettist. We also invited his brother, the pianist Johan Fröst, to one of
our Chopin concerts. To the left is professor Mats Rondin, one of the more well-known Swedish cellists,
and to the right is Niklas Sivelöv. Niklas is now a professor in Denmark. He has also given several
concerts for the Amorina Society, one of which was given after receiving the scholarship.

Lars Roos belongs to the four most publicly known Swedish pianists. He gave a concerts for us
in 1988 and in 1997. Lars is well known to a wide audience since he played on a TV show every weekday
for one and a half years. But, of course, he has done many other things besides TV-shows ...

Staffan Scheja is a very well known pianist and is now a professor at
the Conservatory in Stockholm. He played a recital for us in 1991.

Peter Jablonski has had a bit of an international career and came in 1995 to play for us.

Janos Solyom is very well known for his numerous appearances on TV. After being the central guest on
Lasse Holmqvist's "Here is your life" TV-series, he became a very well known character in Swedish
society. He is married to Camilla Lundberg, nowadays the head of classical music on Swedish Television.

Per Tengstrand has made quite an impressive career. He played at Amorina during our
Chopin series in 1995, well before he was publicly known.

Actually, I have booked quite a few artists before they became known at large. It's very important for young talented artists to have the opportunity to play "big concerts". Otherwise its very difficult for them to develop any further.

In the spring of 2004 I finally decided that it was time to finish the concerts. The final decision was helped (?) by the official presentation of the cultural life for adults in the Sollentuna community. Amorina Recitals wasn't even mentioned! For me personally, it's impossible to find the will and energy when being forced to fight that many obstacles and negative attitudes. I have to say that, at present, I see no possibility of anyone else arranging and presenting concerts on the same high level of quality. It’s a sad, sad state of affairs when the concern for quality is disregarded to such an extent.

Finally, this last picture will conclude the pages on Amorina Recitals. Please remember again that I have chosen to show only a few of the artists. During the 19 years of its existence, there were 142 different musicians playing for us, and not everyone was a pianist! The lion’s share of the music elite in the Nordic countries have appeared on the Amorina stage, even if these pages only have shown a few of them and mainly the international pianists.

Nearly all of the 90 concerts are recorded, but the international artists are bound by contract and the recordings will not be publicly released.
